Dr. Shao – Inspiring the Next Generation of Physicists and Engineers

Dr. Shao is a distinguished educator and former associate professor with more than 30 years of experience teaching Physics, Computer Science, and Electrical Engineering. He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Austin and was appointed as the youngest Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at his university. During his academic tenure, he taught a wide range of college courses, including Quantum Mechanics, Electronics, and Circuit Design, earning multiple Best Teacher Awards for his clarity, passion, and commitment to student success.

Dr. Shao has focused on advanced high school and college-level Physics instruction. He has taught Physics Honors, AP Physics 1 & 2, AP Physics C: Mechanics and Electricity & Magnetism, f=ma and USAPhO preparation, and college-level physics. Under his guidance, the majority of his students have achieved a perfect score of 5 on AP exams. Many of his students have gone on to pursue competitive majors such as Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, EECS, ECE, and Physics at top-tier universities.

Dr. Shao is deeply committed to helping students develop both strong foundational understanding and advanced problem-solving skills. His approach is rigorous yet supportive, aiming not only to prepare students for exams but also to spark intellectual curiosity and a lasting appreciation for the beauty of physics. His teaching emphasizes conceptual clarity, logical reasoning, and confidence-building—qualities that have empowered hundreds of students to thrive in STEM fields.

His students come from a diverse range of public and private institutions across the Bay Area, including Lynbrook, Monta Vista, Cupertino, Homestead, Saratoga, Palo Alto, Fremont, Harker, BASIS, Valley Christian School, Foothill College, and De Anza College.
