Ms. Jane Cao

Ms. Jane Cao is the founder of Institute for Talented and our primary math teacher. She has served as the chapter coordinator of the Northwest Santa Clara Valley Mathcounts Competition since the first annual chapter competition. 

She has more than 15 years of teaching experience with emphasizing on STEM subjects. She is an experienced Math Competition coach in Mathcounts, Mathleague, and AMC8 /10 and math teacher in helping high school math at all levels, including Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra II/Trig, Precalculus, AP Calculus, etc. 

Ms. Jane knows all academic standards for K-12 learning, specially on STEM. She combines the best of classic school math and competition math in her teaching in order to build a solid foundation and strong problem solving skills.  She emphasizes logical reasoning and build the confidence at the same time. 

Her students also have won many awards in various competitions, such as National Champion of Mathleague Countdown, National First place winners and Top 10 winners of Mathleague National at different grade level; Qualifying AIME in 3th grade, AMC8/10/12 Distinguish Honor Rolls ; 1st places in National Math kangaroos; 2nd place team, Perfect score individual, Bronze, Silver and Gold medalists in National Computing League ALL STAR, and varies of prizes in STEM competitions. 

Ms. Jane also provide mentorship for her students and guide them through the STEM journey. Through the years of STEM mentorship, she knows her students well and recommends them into the competitive summer camps, such as USA/Canada, ROSS, PROMYS, HSMC, RISE, COSMOS and etc. Her students got into their dream schools, such as Stanford, Harvard, Yale, MIT, UC Berkeley, UC LA, CMU, Carnell, Brown, and etc. 

Ms.Jane has been homeschooling her children and taught them math and science on her own. Before that, she was an electrical engineer and in a startup team at a Top high-tech company.

Because of the solid foundation she laid for her daughter during the homeschooling, her daughter started with 12 grade math while backing to local High school and was the only freshman in her math class. She also got Valedictorian award with the No. 1 Weighted GPA in her graduation class. She can play school sports, work on STEM projects and tons of volunteer works,  and maintain the highest GPA with the most challenging classes at the same time. She early graduated from UC Berkeley with the double majors in Computer Science and Astrophysics and EECS honor program. 

Ms. Jane has homeschooled her son up to college. After being homeschooled, he falls in love with math. He has been extremely interested in Engineering and Science. He got many award in math competitions and got into varies competitive math summer camps. In 8th grade, he got a score 5 in AP Calculus BC exam and finished all high school A-G courses. He got accepted by Santa Clara University at age 13, skipped 4 year high school and become an undergraduate student in Electrical and Computer Engineering at an age of high school freshman. He just graduated from Santa Clara University with a perfect GPA and received the Academic Achievement Award for the best graduating senior. He got accepted by Stanford Graduate Program and Top High Tech Companies.
