What is the agenda of each practice session?
A:
First, Students will work through 40 carefully selected past contest problems.
Then, instructors will review solutions step-by-step, highlighting key strategies, common mistakes to avoid, and faster ways to solve.
What topics will be covered?
A:
🟦 Division 1 (typically first-year physics) Focuses on classical mechanics: Kinematics (motion in 1D and 2D), Newton’s laws, Forces and free-body diagrams, Work, energy, and power, Momentum and collisions, Circular motion, Gravitation
🟩 Division 2 (typically second-year / AP-level students) Includes everything in Division 1, plus: Oscillations (simple harmonic motion), Waves and sound, Fluids, Thermodynamics, Electricity (electrostatics, circuits), Magnetism, Basic optics (reflection, refraction), Elementary modern physics (e.g., photons, atomic models — usually light coverage)
A:
Conceptual understanding, Algebra-based problem solving, Interpreting graphs and diagrams, Applying physics principles quickly (40 multiple-choice questions in 45 minutes)
A:
These sessions are open to any students preparing for Physics Bowl—whether you want a first taste of physics contests or you are seriously aiming for a stronger performance and want to improve your score. The sessions are especially helpful for students who like structured practice with guided solution reviews.
Recommended: High school students or advanced middle school students with strong algebra/trig skills
Helpful but not required: Completing Physics regular or Physics Honor
Minimum background: You should have learned mechanics in a physics class (or be currently learning it)
Most importantly: willingness to learn and the courage to take on a challenge are the key.
